Caution: Always turn water supply OFF before removing the existing faucet or disassembling the valve. Open faucet handle to relieve water pressure and ensure that complete water shut off has been accomplished.
Lever Handle Disassembly:
1. Gently pry out the red/blue plug button using a flat-blade screwdriver
2. Remove hex screw using a 7/64ths Allen wrench
3. Remove the lever handle
4. Remove screw using a #2 Phillips screwdriver
5. Lift the metal handle adapter off the metal stem of the cartridge
After removing the lever handle, you will need to determine which of the three faucet images below most accurately represents the internal parts of your faucet model.
Section A - Cartridge Removal for Faucet with a Black Pivot Retainer and White Pivot Stop
A1. Unscrew the black plastic Pivot Retainer counter-clockwise
A2. Remove the black plastic Pivot Retainer
A3. Lift the transition collar off of the faucet assembly
A4. Slide the retainer clip out of the slot in the back of the white plastic Pivot Stop using a flat-blade screwdriver
A5. Lift the white plastic Pivot Stop off of the faucet assembly
A6. Remove the metal washer from the brass cartridge stem
A7. Place twisting tool on the stem of the cartridge and rotate a 1/4 turn left/right - (the Twisting Tool is provide in the 1225 Service Kit)
A8. Using a pair of pliers or a wrench, grab onto the brass cartridge stem and pull upwards. This may require a few hard tugs to remove.
A9. Go to Step 6.
Section B - Cartridge Removal for Faucet with a Gray Pivot Retainer and White Pivot Stop
B1. Unscrew the black plastic Pivot Retainer counter-clockwise
B2. Remove the black plastic Pivot Retainer
B3. Lift the transition collar off of the faucet assembly
B4. Slide the retainer clip out of the slot in the back of the white plastic Pivot Stop using a flat-blade screwdriver
B5. Lift the white plastic Pivot Stop off of the faucet assembly
B6. Remove the metal washer from the brass cartridge stem
B7. Place twisting tool on the stem of the cartridge and rotate a 1/4 turn left/right - (the Twisting Tool is provide in the 1225 Service Kit)
B8. Using a pair of pliers or a wrench, grab onto the brass cartridge stem and pull upwards. This may require a few hard tugs to remove.
B9. Go to Step 6.
