Dimensions of Diversity
It is important to distinguish between the different dimensions of diversity. Those characteristics generally associated with diversity are age, ethnicity, gender, physical abilities, race and sexual orientation. Other dimensions include, but are not limited to such attributes as educational background, geographic location, income, marital status, communication style, parental status, religious beliefs, and work experiences.
To understand and respect these many different dimensions is to appreciate diversity.
