North Olmsted, Ohio… Moen voluntarily recalls all Flo Smart Water Monitor Battery Backup Devices (Model 920-001) in coordination with the U.S. Consumer Products Safety Commission (“CPSC”) and Health Canada. In rare instances, the Flo Smart Water Monitor Battery Backup Device may overheat and catch fire. The recall does not impact the functionality of the Flo Smart Water Monitor and Shutoff.
The Flo Smart Water Monitor Battery Backup Device was an optional add-on accessory that could be purchased separately to extend certain features of Moen’s Flo Smart Water Monitor and Shutoff during a power disruption. Should users lose power, the Flo Smart Water Monitor and Shutoff can be utilized manually to turn the home’s water on and off.
Moen is recalling approximately 10,000 units of the Flo Smart Water Monitor Battery Backup Device in response to receiving three reports of the backup batteries overheating and catching fire. No injuries or significant property damage associated with the failures have been reported. Moen is initiating this recall out of an abundance of caution, urging consumers who own a Flo Smart Water Monitor Battery Backup Device to unplug and cease use of the battery. Owners should also contact Moen for instructions to disable their battery backup before disposing of the unit in accordance with applicable laws for the disposal of lithium-ion batteries.
Moen will not replace recalled Flo Smart Water Monitor Battery Backup Devices (Model 920- 001), and all retailers have been asked to stop the product's sale. However, owners can receive a full refund on their purchase through Moen Smart Water Support by visiting
