The Three P's of Bathroom Remodeling

The Three P's of Bathroom Remodeling

Want to know the secret for a stress-free bathroom remodel? Finding the right mix of planning, products and patience will help keep you calm, cool and collected as you build the bath of your dreams.

Planning

Since bathroom renovations can range from several thousand dollars to $30,000 for a complete overhaul, you should have a realistic picture of what you'd like to accomplish and what each component will cost before you begin your remodel.

Next, determine whether you have the skill level required for the job. Installing a new floor, laying tile, soldering pipe and hanging drywall require experience, and in some cases, a license. If you are not up to the job, don't worry. Easy do-it-yourself decorative projects, such as painting or changing a plumbing fixture, can also give your bath a fresh facelift with minimal time and money.

If you decide to hire a contractor, be sure to check references and establish a timeline of activities before getting started. In addition, discuss how overages and extra fees will be addressed. A major cause of stress in any remodel is receiving a bill with additional costs – after the work is already completed. Plan a weekly meeting with your contractor to check on the job's progress and if any additional costs are being added.

Products

Once the most difficult tasks are complete, choose some additional décor products that will turn your bath into your own personal retreat.

Select a focal point for the room. Maybe it's a custom sink, a beautiful mirror or a treasured photo that becomes the centerpiece. Use this as inspiration for the entire space. Even a faucet can create a dramatic focal point, especially when it's the Muirfield™ single-handle bathroom faucet from Moen® Incorporated. Available at Lowe's, this traditional one-handle bathroom faucet features eye-catching style in Chrome or Classic Brushed Nickel finishes. Best of all, Muirfield bath faucet flow rates are certified to meet EPA WaterSense® criteria, providing a great performance while reducing water usage up to 32%.

Make your shower a spa-like escape. Transform your everyday shower into one that takes you away from it all. Moen's Inspire™ rainshower, also at Lowe's, provides a calming, rain-drenching experience. The oversized rainshower features a stylish, octagonal shape that incorporates Moen's innovative, self-pressurizing InvigoRain™ spray, which channels water through the showerhead with three times more spray power than most rainshowers for an exhilarating shower experience.

Pamper yourself with indulgent extras. Consider adding a towel warming drawer to a new or existing cabinet. Or, for a product that does double-duty, consider purchasing a blanket warming rack to heat your blankets before bed and keep your towels toasty during showers.

Patience

As you complete your bathroom remodel, remember that even the best laid plans can go awry. So, stay patient with the process. Take deep breaths and keep the lines of communication open. Sooner than you know, you'll be relaxing and enjoying comfort of your luxurious, new bath.
