Showering Struggles: Renters Can Finally Find Comfort in Easy Apartment Upgrades

New Moen Survey Finds One-Third of Renters are Unhappy with their Current Showerhead

North Olmsted, Ohio… The bathroom is supposed to be your sanctuary – a place where you can relax, decompress and find some moments of self-care – whether you own or rent your home. But new data from Moen, the number one consumer faucet brand in North America, shows that for many renters, the bath is seriously lacking when it comes to creating those moments of spa-like serenity. A new survey* reveals that over one-third of American renters (33 percent) are unhappy with their current showerhead.

What’s got renters down? Many want to upgrade their showerhead because it’s old – which isn’t a big surprise – but there are other desires, too. It turns out they’re often looking for the latest innovations to embrace a new showering experience. Survey findings also show that higher water pressure (74 percent), seeking a showerhead that’s detachable and adjustable (63 percent) and wanting a fixture that saves water (40 percent) are also top reasons people would want to upgrade their showerhead.

From updating shower fixtures to enhancing options for personal hygiene, here are top tips to transform any rental bathroom into a relaxing retreat.

Embrace a spa-like showerhead
Changing out a showerhead is one of the easiest updates a renter can make – but a large percentage of them – nearly a quarter (21 percent) – didn’t realize switching this fixture is often an option.

“We know there are only so many updates your landlord will allow when you’re a renter, but that doesn’t mean your hands are tied when it comes to a shower makeover,” says Andrea Maher, manager, brand marketing at Moen. “Moen offers an array of showerheads that can be easily installed – simply unscrew the existing showerhead and attach the new one to the existing shower arm – to create a more luxurious shower experience with ease. Whether you’re looking for multiple spray options or simply better water pressure, Moen has a showerhead to help enhance any space.”

A great option for renters is the Verso™ Combination Shower with Infiniti™ Dial, which allows users to select a custom shower with seemingly endless spray and coverage choices. To identify the ideal setting, slide the dial to seamlessly switch between spray modes with no pause in experience.

Pro tip: When installing the Verso Combination Shower with Infiniti™ Dial, renters should be sure to use some plumber’s tape to ensure a tight and secure fit for the showerhead.

Improve hygiene and comfort with an eBidet
Bidet cleansing is continuing to grow in popularity, and with retrofittable bidet options available, renters can enjoy this easy-to-install upgrade for enhanced cleanliness in the bathroom. You may not want to replace your entire toilet, but a bidet allows you to add some comfort and luxury that you can take with you when your lease is up.

Electronic bidets (eBidets) from Moen are quick to install, as they replace the user’s current toilet seat, making it easy to experience endless and instantaneous warm water and front and rear cleaning at the touch of a button. Most Moen eBidets are controlled through conveniently located buttons that enable quick start and stop of water flow and the ability to move between front and rear wash functions. Some also include remote control operation, heated seats, integrated night lights and more.

Add accessories for ambiance
The right accessories can take a rental bathroom to the next level of spa-like luxury. Add artwork in soothing color palettes; invest in soft, high-quality towels for better comfort; and consider some scented candles to enhance the sensory experience during a shower or bath.

“A rented space can feel just as personalized and luxurious as an owned one, with the right fixtures and accessories,” adds Maher. “From installing a relaxing rainshower to finding super soft linens for warmth and coziness after bathing, renters can create the ultimate self-care station in their space.”
