Things to Consider

Disposal Basics

There are several important items to consider in choosing the right disposal for any application.

Horsepower

Moen's range of horsepower options includes 1/3 HP, 1/2 HP, 3/4 HP and 1 HP. The higher horsepower models can grind a wider variety of kitchen scraps. All Moen disposals feature the VORTEX™ POWERED permanent magnet motor, which yields finely ground particles and helps reduce jamming.

Cabinet Space

Moen's GX Series and even more compact GX Pro Series will fit most cabinets and takes up less space than most competitors'. Be sure to consider the height between the sink and the cabinet floor as well as the width of the disposal.

Air Switch

The push of a button mounted on the countertop or sink activates the disposal with air pressure instead of electricity. Push to turn on and push again to turn off.

Wiring Options

Moen's pre-installed power cord makes installation easy but can also be quickly removed where hardwiring is desired or required by code. No separate cord purchase is needed.

Wall Switch

Wired connection will signal disposal to run. As long as the power switch is on, the disposal will continue to grind.

Batch Feed

Moen batch feed disposals are actuated with the batch feed stopper. These disposals are turned off when the stopper is removed.
