Rated 3 out of 5 by from Looks very nice and stylish but drips We bought this 1.5 years ago as part of a bathroom renovation project. Looks great, we used the Hensley collection for all other hardware around the bathroom as well - sink faucets, hangers, bars, etc. The only downside is the shower drips when water is turned on to run from the tub spout. It started dripping the same day we installed it. We went back to Home Depot and they exchanged it for free with another set. It lasted a couple of days and started dripping again - now also from the tub spout (when the shower head runs). Naturally, my contractor didn't want to keep changing these so we left it as is. I will contact Moen and hope this can be resolved since I have to now think about re-caulking around the tub because of the dripping.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Looks great...but appears to have design flaw We had this professionally installed by a plumber. The plumber has been back to the house four times because both the spout and the lever allow water to leak into the wall. The water has gone into the walls, and leaked downward, onto the drywall of the first floor ceiling below. Problem #1 - When my wife placed her head under the shower to rinse her long hair, the water follows her hair down, and drains to the gap between the lever and the lever plate. The Moen gasket in this location is worthless, as it allows water to pass through and get inside the wall. Problem #2 - When my son takes a bath, he sometimes covers the spout with his hands. The water is running back up the spout where there are two holes (air gaps.) There is nothing to stop the water from going back into the wall through these holes, and so we have leak #2. My plumber is so frustrated, he is just caulking the heck out of everything. He doesn't know what else to do, and I don't either. I will call Moen and explain this. If there is a reasonable explanation, and a fix, I will upgrade my review to five stars. As for now, big hole in drywall+frustrated plumber+unhappy wife=2 stars.

We have old Moen showers in a condo built in 1990's and want to update. What cartridge/valve system would this be and what new brushed nickel shower and tub shower sets will fit? It is not a pull out faucet, but a single handle turn on faucet. Is it 1222?

Asked by: JessicaLY
Hello JessicaLY and thank you for your interest in Moen products. If the existing handle only rotates to turn on, this is a posi-temp valve which takes the cartridge part #1222B. This means you can update with any current posi-temp trim of today including the Hensley, model #82414SRN.
