Customer Experiences

Read what some of our customers have to say about their experience with Moen products, or ask a question.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from NIghtmare install I have installed and retro-fit many plumbing installs, and by far this was the most troubling experience. I rarely have to read the instructions but felt driving to read these. First off, the instructions and pictures were very poorly written. We have a single pull old valve insert, so this was going to be an upgrade. The Lever handle looked like a Frankenstein part to begin with, so many adjustments to potentially go wrong. I had ordered the valve adapter ring and was not clear if I use the Stand-off Screws or not, so I tried it without and No go. Then, I removed the adapter ring and installed the parts list (C), the two stand-off screws. Both hand tight, brass on brass, not my first rodeo, and one just broke off at the stem. Not wanting to wait a week for the new part from Moen, as the supplier was no help, I installed one stem and braced the other equally, knowing that I may have some issues with alignment. My goal was to have the handle point down, for easy grip, but this system was not going to have it. No matter how many times I started from the beginning of the instructions, they basically really sucked. Very few words, and very little how to detail. In screwing the plate on top it would buckle and pull away from the wall as I tightened. I then realized that the (I) mounting bracket keeper slot was sticking too far in and I had to trim the end by a 1/4" to make it screw in without buckling! Once I got the valve to kind-of do what I wanted to do, I put the trim cover on. That is what made me want to crush the entire valve handle system. 4 hrs I worked at trying to make this work, convinced that the one broken stand-off screw will not make up for the extremely close tolerances, meaning that the handle (m) has to be perfectly sticking out to work freely around the trim collar, which is pulled from the bottom with the single set screw. I started thinking about how difficult it will be for most users to make sure they pull straight out to get it to start, and to make sure they return it back to the correct position before it will go back in and turn off, with a face full of soapy water....hmmmm, not the greatest design. This is when I felt, no matter what I do and how I get this working, it is still not going to be a friendly control for guests and family. The sad part is that I make how-to videos www.youtube.com/erickirkhuff and I could not begin to start how I would approach this one. I started feeling sorry for the Saturday DIY'er and, at this point, I suggest you return it and buy the Moen TS932 kit instead or like I did was to Marry the two kits and get what you want because the tub and shower pieces on the TS3200NH are very nice. If you want to do what I did then you can purchase the tub spout and the long shower-head pipe (really cool) of the TS32003NH and use the single-handle trim part of the TS932 Moen kit, available on Amazon for cheap. Sometimes you just have to customize your install to make it work.

What is the recommended mounting height for this arm with a rain shower head attached

Asked by: Kitchenman454
Hello Kitchenman454 and thank you for your interest in Moen products. The Moen Arris Chrome Moentrol® tub/shower installation instructions specify that the piping used from the valve down to the tub spout outlet be 1/2” metal pipe (Copper, Galvanized or Brass IPS (threaded) pipe). The tub spout must be installed 6” min and 9” max below the valve while the showerhead outlet must be at least 46” above the valve. If you have additional questions, please don't hesitate to call us at 1-800-289-6636 or visit the "Contact Us" tab on www.moen.com to send us an email.
