North Olmsted, Ohio… For the third year in a row, Moen’s commitment to innovation and thoughtful design has been recognized by the editors at This Old House magazine. Moen’s Essie™ pulldown kitchen faucet with MotionSense Wave™ technology has been chosen as one of the 2017 Top 100 Best New Home Products. The highly anticipated list, available in the November/December issue and online at thisoldhouse.com, identifies the home industry’s most innovative and forward-thinking new products in six categories: Kitchen, Bath, Tools, Home Tech, Outdoor and Building Products.

“The entire editorial team worked on this list throughout the year, scouting, testing and learning about the products we feel will make life easier for our readers,” says Susan Wyland, editor-in-chief, This Old House magazine. “We wanted to create a well-curated list, in one place, that represents the best and brightest new home products in some of the magazine’s most popular categories.”

Faucets equipped with MotionSense Wave technology are perfect for when your hands are too full or too messy to turn on the faucet. This functionality also helps to minimize the spread of dirt and germs, since there’s no need to touch the faucet to start the flow of water.

The faucets can be controlled in two ways:

  • The Wave Sensor, on the left side of the base of the faucet, turns water on or off with the wave of a hand.
  • The handle on the opposite side of the faucet offers manual operation, letting users adjust flow and temperature.

The innovation is offered on several kitchen faucet collections, including Essie pulldown kitchen faucets.

“At Moen, everything we do is driven by consumer insights. When designing MotionSense Wave technology, we considered the way hands move around the kitchen sink to determine the ideal placement for the touchless sensor, making it simple and intuitive for users to turn the faucet on and off with the wave of a hand,” said Maribeth Kwasniewski, director of retail marketing, Moen. “Whether we’re cooking, crafting with the kids, or doing yardwork, our hands are always the first thing to get dirty, but with new MotionSense Wave technology, homeowners have the perfect helper to tackle life’s little (or big!) messes with ease.”

In 2016, Moen’s Press & Mark™ bath hardware installation innovation was named to the Top 100. The washable ink stamp shows users exactly where to drill – eliminating the need for a traditional paper template, making bath hardware updates like installing towel rings, towel bars, robe hooks and toilet paper holders stress-free. In 2015, Moen’s Magnetix™ handshowers were chosen for their powerful magnetic dock that allows for easy release of the handshower, as well as a secure return back into place – even when your eyes are closed.
