Guest Room Gusto

Guest Room Gusto

The holidays are a busy travel time, with all of us going to visit family and friends. But what if family and friends are coming to visit you this year? How can you create a warm and inviting space to make your guests feel as if they've received the royal treatment? Give your guest space some gusto with simple but grand décor additions.

Go Hoteling

Take inspiration for your guest suite from an upscale hotel. Consider every detail of your guest's comfort – from bed linens to shower amenities. To give your guest bath a more oversized, luxurious feel, add a Curved Shower Rod from Inspirations® by Moen®. These decorative rods will open up your shower space, providing your guest with up to six additional inches of elbow room in the shower.

Continue the touches of elegance in the bath with a refined bathroom collection that you can rely on to provide your guest with the ultimate in comfort and style. The Muirfield™ collection from Moen features three unique traditionally styled faucets to give your guest room some gusto – choose from one- or two- handle and standard-, mid- and high-arc options in a variety of finishes. Plus, these faucets are certified to meet the Environmental Protection Agency's WaterSense criteria, so your guest will be treated with the sensational water experience she is accustomed to, while you reduce water usage by 32 percent.

Luxury hotels are known for their plush bedding. Some even go as far as selling their signature bedding, so you can create a dreamy vacation bed, like the Westin's Heavenly® Bed, in your own home. If you're looking to give your guests a luxury hotel-like experience, but don't want to pay luxury hotel prices, consider adding a down alternative mattress cover, comforter and pillows to the guest bed. These soft, luxurious items are washable, long-lasting and provide the ultimate in comfort for your guest.

Fine hotels always offer a convenient place to store your suitcase, so do the same for your guest. Clear a space to put a luggage rack, a small table or a bench to set down a suitcase and help your guest keep her items within easy reach.

Keep it Clean and Crisp

Resist the temptation to put your personal photos or trinkets on the table or to fill the closet with the overflow from your own closet. In a guest room, less is always more - more space, more comfort and more peace. Think of a hotel or a model home that uses neutral décor to make visitors feel at ease.

The color white just says hospitality – it's clean and inviting. Set out some white towels and a plush white robe for your guest. If you want to go the extra mile, present a pair of comfortable white slippers for your guest to slide on at the end of the day and take home at the end of her visit.

Personal Touches

Make your guest feel special with some personal touches. Do you have a special photo of the two of you? Display that photo in a frame and it give to your guest as a keepsake when she departs. Does she have a favorite author or even a favorite magazine? Put the author's latest book or the magazine's most recent edition bedside, alongside a reading lamp, to help her unwind at night.

In the bath, add a personal touch with hand-crafted guest soaps made just for her. Valsey and Me offers a mini-gift box, with 10 small soap chips, each the perfect size for a single use. You can customize the soaps with your guest's favorite scent and personalized labels with her name or a welcoming message.

By adding a few inviting details to your guest room, you can ensure that this holiday season is the best one yet for all of your invited guests.
